If Harper is released, I'd love to see him in NJPW for a while. He's so good. He could go wild on the Indies, build his name back up, and hopefully signs with AEW or NJPW. FWIW, Meltz says it's a good bet that he ends up in AEW.

Wolfe, maybe they're just breaking up Sanity?

Wolffe said goodbye to Sanity and WWE. I can see Young, now on RAW, be a backstage hand. Harper would hit right in with PCO

Satin says he's still under contract and could be sent down to NXT but we'll see.

Harper is so much fun to watch when he's allowed to go

Big Dave is reporting that WWE will not grant Harper his release and they will likely do freeze his contract like they did with Neville. They are also reportedly considering this tactic with Sasha Banks as they are in a "stalemate."

IIRC, they froze Neville's contract, but eventually gave in and worked out a release so he could work elsewhere, but that was really before the AEW announcement, so imagine everybody now will either have to come back and work the remainder of their contract for WWE, or else go home and be forbidden from working elsewhere in pro wrestling indefinitely.

I would think that these days, an unhappy talent is probably better off keeping their mouths shut, work for as long as their contract is for, let it run out, and then leave on good terms to work wherever else you want to. Unless you're a bottom-level guy who's not being used, it doesn't seem like WWE is going to let people just walk over to AEW, NJPW, wherever while they still have time left on their WWE deals, which is kinda understandable.

Here's some more context from the WON. They've added 6 months to his deal:
Right now the WWE side of things regarding Luke Harper is that he is not going to be released and they’ve added six months to his contract because they’ve said that his contract term that was to end in November, has been added to because it was frozen due to his time off for wrist surgery. So their viewpoint is that he can’t leave until just before next year’s WrestleMania. From an outside perspective, this seems to be a way to dissuade people from going public and saying they’re unhappy. The flip side was Dustin Runnels, who has been out for months with double knee surgery, but because he never said a word, denied he was leaving when rumors came out, was given a release and was able to immediately walk into a good position with AEW

Well, it's only common sense that if you repeatedly go public and badmouth your employer, don't expect them to do you any favors and grant you an early release.

I guess you have to be like Dustin & Dean & just remain quiet to get a release, since I’d Dustin will probably be an ME talent in AEW & I’d imagine Sasha & Harper could be too. Wolfe on the other hand is working NXT UK now

Tye, I think, falls into the "bottom of the card, barely being used" category, so they feel comfortable letting him go.

Sad to say, but if WWE voluntarily gives you an early release from your contract these days, it's basically them saying that they don't think you're good enough to make a difference in AEW or NJPW.

Yea with AEW wrestlers now have a possible alternative and WWE have to take precautions. AEW is backed by the 200th richest man in the world vs Vince who is 600th richest. And I'm sure Vince remembers WCW.

Dustin is also 50, has been off tv, and has been on good terms with wwe the past decade.

It's interesting that Vince doesn't Harper in AEW (because he'd be booked well) but he probably won't do a thing with him.

Here's an update from this week's WON:

Harper has been given no future bookings, but also won’t be let out of his contract. He asked Vince McMahon if he wasn’t going to be used if he could get out in November as is the contract expiration date, before WWE extended it six months based on his being out with an injury. McMahon told him to take it up with Paul Levesque, who then didn’t respond to him
