NYCC THURSDAY: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Post by lanza218 » October 10th, 2018, 12:54 am

NYCC The Good, The Bad The Ugly

FINALLY, Lanza HAS COME BACK with a report!!! Gunna try and make this as interesting as possible since I have a feeling a lot of NYCC reports will be coming in, I did Thurs-Sat this year for the con, so lets dive in I tried to condense this into all 3 days, but it is too big so let shoot the shit, and lets begin!!

thursday:

THE GOOD: Got to the first NYCC spot around 945 and waited away, but thankfully the time passed quickly with Class, Greg, Jerry, JOSH (I know you are reading this) DAVIDDDDDDDD, and few more to pass the time and has minimal wants this day

1st op of the day comes in the form of director Robert Rodriguez who could not have bee nicer

Waited awhile and next was a surprise appearance from Donald Faison, a want of mine for a long time. Was super nice

Saw some other minor names but they either did not stop or I had them already and really did not care to get retakes or upgrades or whatever you want to call it :badass:

Right around dusk saw Marcus Scribner come out, from Blackish, a show I enjoy. He was rushed but I went right up to him and got a pic no problem

Later at night, literally my biggest want of the day, John C McGinley does pics for all and signs- few years ago he was impossible, last year I was running around other places, this year no problem at all

Next Janet Varney was also doing pics, never got a solo shot so took it, and that ends the GOOD portion of the day

THE BAD: lots and lots of waiting, some people I could not get in the AM like John and had to wait hours to get another shot. Rained midday and just wasted time in the con. Also, lot of time spent for little names, also did not bring a thing to get signed even though could have easily got stuff this week. Barely ate or drank and alot of standing

THE UGLY- Sometimes you get an op and it is photobombed

Sometimes you make a wrong choice and people get a much bigger name than the upgrade you waited around for

Image20181004_200305 by Lanza218, on Flickr

Sometimes you just end up fighting with people

Some other horror stories were people getting to a spot 3 hours late and missing people, some people get upset over a black cartoon character in a 2018 reboot replaced a white cartoon character from the 80s, and remember, this was only DAY 1!!!! :crayira: :SIGH1: :vaht1:

This was Thursday dude. I missed most of the Class Show though. Plus finally can stop hearing about McGinley!

Awesome stuff Lanza! Cool pics and yes its a lot of waiting around and doing this stuff isn't easy by any means. Great McGinley shot... I still need him but I don't regret going to the other spot for Riz Ahmed because he was a bigger want for me (since I'm a big Star Wars fan).. great job :like: :like:
