The Great Philadelphia Comic Con

Post by class316 » July 9th, 2018, 5:13 pm

Woke up Sunday morning in Jersey at the Chiller hotel, left, set the GPS to avoid all tolls, and headed to Oaks. My main want there was actually Steve Whitmire who took over the voice of Kermit after Jim Hansen died. Taylor Gray of Star Wars Rebels who has eluded me for a while was there so was good to finally get that.

I arrive and hang out with markedout board member OverTheTop.

First thing I notice is holy hell those prices are insane. I couldn't believe it. Chiller was better which is saying something. BUT being Sunday I managed to negotiate with a few people and for some I also split combo prices. One actually allowed me to mooch her. Namely Romy Sharf who played Alpha in Power Rangers. I tried to get her for half the photo op price then she left her table and told me to get a shot as she is leaving. I ended up skipping a lot of the more minor names due to prices. What should have been $20 combos at best were $40 an item!

Left the con, set the GPS to avoid tolls, went home.

Wonderful on Whitmere. I am hoping for chiller.

Quick question especially for you : Is there any star that you actually want to talk to them and ask them questions/ show appreciation.
I'm not judging at all and one really doesn't have to, but I am curious if there has been a top five you would love to talk to because of their work. Or is it all just "photo and move on" ?

for me, zero interest in a conversation with any of these people. We aren’t friends, I hate small talk and gushing over what they have done doesn’t appeal to me.

Nah. Personally for me doing these things is basically a chore. On the street I have no control over how long it takes. But at cons I have some power so I can make it go as quickly as possible. I shake hands, say hello, take my photo op, and move on. Once in a while I may make a one sentence comment. Zero interest in long drawn out conversations with any of them. I curse out when the people in front of me say their life stories delaying the line.
