Captain America and THE Toolman

Post by djknightrida » December 16th, 2017, 9:44 pm

Had a couple of quick meets to kick off December. First CM and I hit up a local spot for one of my top wants in Tim The Toolman Taylor. Tim Allen had a local comedy show and I had to try to knock off one of my bigger wants in what I hoped would be an easy spot. As CM and I drove we got the lay of the land from a fellow collector who had gotten Tim as he entered the venue. CM and I made good time and set up camp at the spot where we saw TIm's car. The witching hour approached and low and behold class appeared with a mass of dealers. Tim was super chill taking his time to do photos and sign multiples all while talking football and doing the signature Toolman grunt. It's truly hard to put into words how awesome it was for me personally. I feel we really lucked out as the next night he did it from the car thus what would have made the photo a lot harder to get.

A week later Nightshift Nate and I met up to go after a top Dallas Cowboy want in Roger Staubach. Roger doesn't do public signings any longer so the only way to get the photo would be on the street. Nate and I got to the spot extra early as we didn't encounter the traffic we expected. About 15 minutes before the witching hour a flock of 10 or so dealers waddled in and made the spot more difficult. Going in I was hoping for 2 items and a photo with the Dodger. When Roger was escorted by security I doubted that was happening. He did agree to do one item per person. I opted for my Texas Stadium seatback. As he finished the line the dealers attempted to get more done but he shut them down. I got into position for the photo and Roger agreed but the security lady was a total cunt shoving my phone out of the way. Roger stayed for a retake but at this point I was shaking in anger as she nearly broke my phone. I got it albeit not the best and I was happy. Nate would also get him after chasing him down. A nice set of :bigday: to start the month.

Wow. He was super nice for like 20 people. Must have really been a worse than usual NYC crowd

Clearly doesn't like the NYC dealers as even in Rochester you would see a small bubble surrounding the window with him signing.

It was rainbow peacock so you can imagine the mess there. Wasn't that many of us. But passerbys made it a zoo.
