Thoughts on Ops and stopping child stars

Post by Btvsp3 » January 16th, 2018, 12:27 pm

I saw someone mention (either here or on Facebook. Can't remember which) that they find it weird that grown adults are excited to meet children. More specifically the kids from Stranger Things and IT. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on either get Pro Ops or stopping child stars on the street. I got a Pro Op with Millie Bobby Brown at NYCC in 2016, which was a bit weird, but I'm also getting a Pro Op for the kids from IT in a few months so obviously not weird enough to deter me.

However stopping them on the street seems too weird for me. I had a chance to meet Jacob Tremblay from Room and Wonder, but as an almost 30 year old man I can't stop an 11 year old on the street and ask him for a photo. Just seems over the line to me. I did stop David Mazouz from Gotham twice last year but I don't watch the show and didn't know at the time that he was only 16.

Stopping them on the street would be weird for me, too.

I never have done it, but then again I hadn't see their work. If say I see Jacob Tremblay again I'd ask, because he'll be in the new Predator film.

I do it all the time. Street and paid. Valid is valid, regardless of age.

I've even stopped barely valid single digit children

I have gotten minors before, but usually the ball is already rolling. I saw the little boy from black-ish outside a hotel with his parents and I passed. Had he been doing it for other people I'd take it, but just approaching the parents and being like "hey, can I take a selfie with your son?" wasn't worth my limited care.

I've asked barely valids and I've been the first one to ask.

Let me ask, how cool would it have been to get Drew Barrymore as a child just as she looked like in ET? Then to get her again as an adult.

the few times ive done it..yeah its a bit weird but usually I go and say hi and tell them how much I like their work..then I start up a conversation with the parent and ask how its been and if they like the city and plan on checking out some spots...so usually I have a conversation with the parents than the child star and its not so bad doing it that way. and the parent usually are the one that makes it a big deal that someone stopped and said hi to the family and makes the meet smooth and easy.

try that next time.

If I was that young, yeah, would be cool. Full grown adult with 6 year-old Drew = effing CREEPY.

PS: We remember the Connor Family incident.

Full grown adult or young, doesn't matter. Picture would 6 year old drew as she looked like in ET would be epic. Just as impressive as the suited Ghostbusters shot from the Ghostbusters set.
