Alright, so I need a baseball team

Post by tiscione » January 23rd, 2013, 10:45 pm

Every year for the past, well, almost ten years, I've tried to get into baseball, but it's tough. I'll admit that it's not always the best effort. This is the year that I'm going to get into baseball, but I need a team.

It must meet the following criteria:
  • It can't be a team with a huge bandwagon following. I'm not about that life.
  • It can't be the Marlins. That whole rainbow thing, I'm not about that life either.
  • The more obscure the team, the better, kind of like my other teams.
That's about it, I guess.

Ok, so based off of this, I came up with the Detroit Tigers. Do they fit this? If not, give me suggestions.

This is my last attempt at getting into baseball, but to do so, I need a team.

This is tough, nephews. Help a brother out.

KC Royals, not big market, young, energetic team, tons of exciting players, small market- been losers for 320597896079676 seasons

If you want an obscure team, that doesn't win enough to have any, let alone many bandwagon fans, look no further than the Mets!! lol

I would agree with the Royals if you want a Jaguar equivalent, as the Tigers have been more successful the past few years, with some great players that have bandwagon following potential.

Come join us in Baltimore for the Orioles.

Team on the rise but still not all that good. Very plucky. Last year was the first winning season in over a decade.
Rivals with New York and Boston, so you can hate on them.
Not that far of a drive to see them play if you ever get in the mood to do so.
One of the best baseball parks in the country.

good possibilities: oakland (always in the hunt, with small payroll, smart management, young players), baltimore like ivp said, kc, milwaukee (another team with potential to break out one of these years, very passionate fans), nationals (putting everything together after a long time)..

I would say either Astros (they sucked after a good run, ala your Jags) have a home town hero who they say would help them draw fans (Roger Clemens) and it's not a East coast team (they all jump on bandwagon if team is good) or the Royal like has been said, a team on rise, young hungry talent or if you wanna be close to Jacksonville, pick the Rays
YES YES YES

New blog post coming tonight about this. This week is when it's decided. With my NFL and NBA teams locked in, it's time.

The list has been narrowed to 12 teams.

Just updated the post. With good reason, Colorado, Kansas City, Oakland, and Tampa have been eliminated. We're now down to six. #TheDecision2013

No disrespect of course, but if you find baseball as boring as you seem to find it (not judging, I haven't watched a single inning on TV the past two seasons, because it's just so slow and meaningless with a 162 game schedule) why pick a team? I hate hockey, so as a result I have no team.

Baseball is a great time live, but it's just a chore to watch on TV, and that's coming from someone who played baseball competitively growing up.
