Guns N Roses REUNITED!!!!

Guns N’ Roses Rumor: Steven Adler Negotiating for Role in Reunion Tour
By Nick DeRiso January 6, 2016 11:29 AM

At least one other member of Guns N’ Roses‘ classic-era lineup could be part of the band’s long-awaited reunion. Eddie Trunk, the hard-rock radio and TV host, says negotiations are underway for a possible guest role for Steven Adler. Fellow co-founder Izzy [Stradlin] might also sit in, he says.
“My sources have told me current GNR drummer Frank Ferrer will be retained and play the bulk of the show,” Trunk wrote on his official website. Adler, Trunk noted, could make an appearance “if a deal can be worked out.”
Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan have finally confirmed they will take the stage at Coachella, but made no mention of who will fill out the rest of the lineup – or whether their April 2015 stop in Indio, Calif., will lead to more dates down the road. “Strong rumors suggest there will be a couple warm up dates and then more extensive touring after Coachella, if it goes well and the offers are what they expect,” Trunk said. “But things are far from cut-and-dry here.”
Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke (who replaced Adler and Stradlin, respectively) will likely not be involved at all, Trunk added. “I would suspect the same with Richard Fortus staying, and maybe Izzy popping up. I would also expect [later-period contributors] Dizzy [Reed] and Chris Pittman to stay.”
Also included in the swirl of rumors is Dave Kushner, who played three Guns N’ Roses members in Velvet Revolver. Trunk said he doesn’t “see the connection, but anything is possible. Axl always liked three guitars in the later-era Guns, so who knows?” Is this three-fifth configuration enough to lure Guns N’ Roses’ purists back to the fold? “For most, yes; for some, no,” Trunk admitted. “But it will do huge business regardless of the percentage that was holding out hope for an Appetite reunion 100 percent. That was never going to happen anyway, since Guns only really made one album with that band.”

I'm cool with just Axl, Slash, and Duff. They've remained musically in shape for the last 2 decades. Izzy is a mess, and I can't imagine Adler being mentally/physically able to play a show, let alone tour. Hopefully I can score tickets when they come to this area, but that will be a tough one to get.

Ok, so I was actually going to start a thread on this. I met the wrestler Edge recently and had a discussion with him on this topic. I am a die hard GN'R fan and have been since I was was 8 years old!! Yet, I have never seen the original line-up or the Illusion line-up in concert because they last played in 1993 and I didn't start going to concerts regularly until 1994 or 1995. Before I continue, I just want to point out to you Greg, that Izzy is NOT a mess. In fact, he has been clean and sober since he left the band I believe and releases solo efforts every few years or so. He recently recorded with Duff. Izzy's issue is that he doesn't like extensive touring.
Anyway, I have seen Velvet Revolver in concert and I have seen some form of the current GN'R in concert as well. I was even lucky enough to be at the first current era Guns show that Izzy guest appeared at, which was amazing. My dream concert has always been to see the original line-up, with either Steven or Matt on drums. Interestingly enough, years ago I had a conversation with Slash and asked if the band was ever to reunite, which drummer would he prefer. He told me Steven. This doesn't really come as a surprise since the two have been friends since childhood. Still, I believe that Steven is too much of a risk to come on board full-time. Furthermore, Matt and Axl reportedly do not like each other one bit, which can keep Matt away from the tour. So, then the question is posed..Do I take the reunion or leave it??? Well, in all honestly, a true GN'R fans knows that it is not an authentic reunion without Izzy Stradlin'. Not only is he one of the key songwriters, but his sound and presence in the band is irreplaceable. The fact that Axl, Sash and Duff would agree to do a 'half-assed" reunion implies that it is all about the Benjamins. It is funny how even when one is a millionaire, one wants more. They are reportedly asking for between $2 and $3 million per show. Now, Fortus and Ferrer are great at what they do, but this isn't the GN'R that fans have been waiting almost 25 years to see. From a nostalgic POV, I am happy that Dizzy will probably continue to play with the band, since he has played keys dating back to the Illusion era and definitely adds to the old-school feel. If Slash and Axl can squash their beef, why can't Axl and Matt? Anyway, if money is a major part of it, they can be like Eddie and Roth were and not speak offstage. Though, maybe Axl just doesn't want to deal with the headache. It doesn't matter who plays drums, as long as Slash and Axl reunite, they will sell out stadiums no problem...and Axl knows this. Most probably, the line-up will consist of Axl, Slash, Duff, Dizzy, Fortus, Ferrer and Pittman with hopefully some guest appearances throughout the tour from Steven and Izzy. So, essentially...I see this as Duff and Slash joining Axl's version of G'NR. With that being said, it still is a huge deal to see Axl perform with Slash, something I was never sure I would see.As a true fan, it would be ridiculous for me to say that I will not see them in concert, especially since I have already seen a 2000's version of the band. I will have to take what I can get and settle the line-up that is to be...and hope to at least see one song played by the complete original line-up.That is of course, if the band decides to go through with a tour after Coachella. I would love to hear new music down the road as well. Not sure how many Guns fans are on this board, but I am interested in others opinions or opinions on "half-assed" reunions in general. Take it or leave it???

Okay, nice that Stradlin is doing well now. I honestly have not followed anything GNR related in 20 years. Axl's horrible albums completely put me off of him. When the "new" Axl-only GNR toured my friends asked me to go, but I declined. It's not GNR without Slash. Izzy may shun touring, many rock musicians have. Robbie Robertson. At least he's not Queen's John Deacon, who is now a complete recluse.

Saw Guns N Roses in 1991 with Sorum on Drums...Skid Row opened with Bach on vocals and I believe all the original band members. What an AWESOME show!!!

That's sick. Skid Row is another band I saw an altered version of (and then Bach solo), but not the original line-up.

Thanks dude! It was EPIC! Skid Row was in their prime and Bach was at the top of his game.

I went to the GNR/Metallica tour '92 Giants Stadium when I was 13 with older cousins and their friends. They mostly hated GNR, so they tailgated outside in the parking lot during their set. We went in towards the end of it, but the place was in such disarray. Everyone high and/or drunk. Metallica came on and were LOUD. I really wasn't that into the music then, but it was pretty damn exhilarating. I think we left early though, because they lived down the shore, and had to drop me off and drive home.

I'm right there with you. Don't see the appeal given the effort, cost, etc.

I can only truly enjoy a concert if I have excellent seats. Unfortunately, great seats don't come cheap. Sitting in nose bleeds doesn't appeal to me.
