after Ben/Kylo went dark and slaughtered the newest batch of younglings, Han and Leia pretty much got divorced and went their separate ways to try to deal with/undertand the actions of their son...class316 wrote:Another note. 30 years after defeating the Empire and banging Leia, Han is still smugglingI would have thought smuggling is beneath him at that point.

Re: Star Wars. The Force Awakens. Discussion with Spoilers
Rey was abandoned around age of 3 yrs old... She is what 16-18 in Force Awakens... There is no way to fully recognise a son or daughter 13 to 15 yrs since last seeing them.... IF they even knew a son or daughter even existed int he first place ( :0 ) .. twins separated at birth... never seen that in a Star Wars movie before....oldschoolwwwf wrote:She's definitely a sky walker. Jedi don't really have sex so it's going to take some explaining to be Luke's. However, it's possible he abandoned her bc he was trying to protect her...
That said if she is Luke's or keias, it's hard to believe they'd abandon her and hard to believe Han or leia wouldn't recognize her..
Be interesting if she was leias, she'd have to kill her brother , which was in the now invalid Star Wars novels..
All this being said, I think she'll turn out to be Luke's. He was there when she was abandoned, there were huge battles fought in her planet, and the saber called to her..plus she has the force to levels an akin seemed to ..

Re: Star Wars. The Force Awakens. Discussion with Spoilers
she was also able to fly the Millenium Falcon like a woman possessed without any prior flying experience of it ... as she said ' I have no idea how to do it'... came as intuition... or the Force guided her hand..MrTonyRuben wrote:I don't think it was the same, but I mentioned it being similar. Early in the film, it shows that Rey is very proficient in close quarters combat with her staff so that can translate with a lightsaber. Her being force sensitive was shown when the lightsaber was calling to her and when she held it for the first time, she was having visions and flashbacks of being abandoned (perhaps she was a student or tapped to be one when Kylo betrayed Luke...I'll be able to confirm this on 2nd viewing), seeing Luke power down R2 and then seeing Kylo and the other Knights on the planet. Once she started to accept & believe, she was able to focus (use Jedi Mind Trick, being able to pull the lightsaber away from Kylo). Kylo even mentions that when she started to test her abilities, she would become even more powerful, so they needed to find her quickly. Also, Kylo was badly hurt after killing Han...he was shot in the stomach by Chewie and Finn was even able to land a strike on him with the lightsaber. Factoring in all these things, I do think it's believable that Rey could have bested Kylo the way she did.cmshowstopper wrote:I didnt hear, but its possible I missed it, that Kylo killed the other students. I could have sworn the story was told that Kylo went crazy and Luke felt he had failed him and thats what led him into hiding. But I could be wrong.
I definitely disagree with Rey and her scene being the same as Luke. Rey not only had ZERO training, she didnt even know she was force sensitive till minutes before. How could she be so powerful or have any ability to control the force at this point?! What advantage was Luke getting on Vader before Empire? None. Even in Empire, he loses his hand and gets his ass kicked by Vader. While its clear Kylo is not as strong as Vader, Rey is no where NEAR Luke in Empire. I thought it came off very poorly.

Shadows of the Empire, at least as we knew it, is invalid. It was officially stated.rocklandsally wrote:also another hint... the movie was to have been called at one point 'Shadows of the Empire' ...

Watched the whole thing. This was really well done and tackles a lot of the issues I had with the film. While I dont agree with all this tuber's points, I think he does bring up good ones and does a good job expounding upon them.

Considering about 2% of the moviegoers have probably heard of Shadows, and 90% of those from the N64 game, wasn't a tough call on their part.class316 wrote:Shadows of the Empire, at least as we knew it, is invalid. Unfortunately, LucasFilm have pushed the Episode VIII release from May to December 2017. So it'll be Rogue One Dec 2016, then Ep 8 Dec 2017.

Well everything EU pre Disney has been invalidated so it wasn't a "Shadows only" thing.Greg2600 wrote:Considering about 2% of the moviegoers have probably heard of Shadows, and 90% of those from the N64 game, wasn't a tough call on their part.
Some popular characters like Starkiller, Kyle Katarn, and Mara Jade are amongst those that will forever be invalid.

It looks downright awful

Re: Star Wars. The Force Awakens. Discussion with Spoilers
I would wager that as Gareth Edwards warned, the film was dark. Disney obviously did not like that from a box office standpoint. So it's quite possible the reshoots will probably make the movie worse not better.
